Rags, the klepto cat, risks his life in this action-packed story. Colbi Stanton, a popular journalist, goes missing just before turning in her story exposing unscrupulous cat hoarders. Damon (freshly out of prison and employed by the local newspaper) has a strong personal interest in her and he breaks some rules and some trusts in his search for Colbi. Is this a love connection? It’s doubtful because Colbi is a strong advocate for the feral cat population and Damon hates cats—or so he believes. Colbi’s rescue is almost too late. She needs time to heal, and her friends, Savannah and Michael Ivey invite her to recuperate in their home. Just when Colbi begins to feel safe, a body is discovered in the Iveys’ orchard and Rags (their kleptomaniac cat) goes missing. Someone in a nearby homeless camp sheds light on the mystery and Rags shares a secret of his own.

The story line was okay in this book, but the writing left a lot to be desired. A lot of "he said ,she said," and there did not seem to be a door bell on any one's house until the very last when a door bell was rung. The rest of the time the author let us know someone was at the door by writing "Knock Knock" How quaint is that? I guess if there had been a door bell she would have said,"Ding dong." The ending was disappointing and just left us hanging. I would not recommend this book. I see that cat lovers enjoyed it, but even though I like cats it just did not grab me. It was easy to lay down for a while at a time.Product details

I love the Klepto Cat Mystery books. I read the first one, "Catnapped," and I read the other eight; one after another. If you enjoy reading about cats and other animals you will really enjoy this books. Can't wait for more to be published.
This series is getting better - it was excessively didactic and preachy about animal rescue in earlier works (and I am an animal rescue person myself), but the dialog is stilted and the characters seem to put their hands to their faces too too often. I do like the cat and the portrayal of the Downs teenager.
Yet another great mystery SOLVED through the work of RAgsdale, the Kempton cat and his loyal family and friends. Patricia Fry continues to draw the reader deeper into the plot of the story with each page turned. An excellent story for all animal lovers but especially those of us who love cats.
This one underway before I was ready. I have fallen in love with this group of characters. Patricia Fry has given us another well-written story about kidnapping, a con game, a murder, and cats, of course. Have already downloaded the next in this series.
This series is very well written and entertaining. The thought of a cat being the typical klepto is very believable and it is great to read a book that highlights the need to help the cat colonies out. I always enjoy this series and will continue to. Also the culprits are hard to figure out early so the suspense keeps you going to the end
Undercover Cat was adorable! I just love Rags! I'm reading the whole series and each book gets better and better. When I'm done, I pass the book on to friends and they love them too! Can't wait for the next one!
The book has a strong message about animal hoarders--which means if you do not like books with a message, or if you are an animal hoarder, you are unlikely to like this book. The cat referred to in the title is very realistically just a cat, albeit a cat that takes and hides a wide range of items. The cat owners are the ones who are arguably "undercover."
